Video sizes for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn
Most places you’ll post a short video want one of three shapes. Pick the shape for where it will be seen most, and make the others when you need them.

The three shapes
Platforms change their recommendations from time to time, so check their own help pages before a big campaign. Some feeds also show 4:5 portrait video, a little taller than square.
| Shape | Size in pixels | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical, 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 | Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, Stories |
| Square, 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 | Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn feeds |
| Widescreen, 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 | YouTube, your website, presentations |
Which to choose first
- Mostly on your phone (Reels, TikTok, Shorts): vertical.
- Mostly in feeds, or on LinkedIn: square works everywhere.
- For your website or YouTube: widescreen.
Keep words clear of the edges
On Reels, TikTok and Shorts, the platform puts its buttons and your caption over the bottom and right of the video. Keep important words in the middle of the frame, away from the bottom.
Captions on the video itself help too: many people watch with the sound off.
In our builder
You choose vertical, square or widescreen when you make a video, and every video has captions. With Pro, a finished video can also be made in the other two shapes, with the same voice.
