Website terms
Last updated 12 October 2026.
These terms apply when you use pennydropstudio.com, including our video builder app. By using them, you agree to these terms.
About us
pennydropstudio.com is run by Penny Drop Studio. You can contact us at hello@pennydropstudio.com. Penny Drop Studio is the trading name of George L, a sole trader. Our postal address is 78 High Street, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, LU5 5BJ.
Using the website and the app
Please don’t misuse them: for example, by trying to get into parts you’re not meant to, getting round our limits (such as by making extra accounts), sending spam through our forms, or uploading anything harmful or that you don’t have the right to share.
We try to keep the website and the app available and accurate, but we can’t promise they will always be available, error-free or up to date.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over, and use the builder for a business you run or work for.
- You sign in with a link we email you. Please keep those links to yourself.
- Each person can make one free video. Versions of the same email address count as the same person.
- Features marked Pro are for Pro accounts. Pro is a paid plan: see “Pro subscriptions” below.
- We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms.
Pro subscriptions
- Price. Pro is £25 a month, paid in advance each month by card. The price is the one shown when you subscribe. If we change it, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- Free trial. “Try Pro” gives you 7 days of Pro, with up to 2 videos. We ask for a card when it starts. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and your card is charged £25, then each month after that. Each person can have one trial, ever: we check your email address (including versions of it) and your card, and a trial started again with either is cancelled before anything is charged.
- Starting early. You can end your trial and start paying at any time from “Your plan”, to make up to 10 videos a month straight away.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from “Your plan” in the app. You keep Pro until the end of the month you’ve paid for, and it doesn’t renew. We don’t refund part-months, unless the law requires us to.
- If a payment fails, our payments provider tries again for a short while. If it still can’t take the payment, your account goes back to the free plan.
- When Pro ends, the videos you’ve made stay until their 60 days are up. Your account goes back to the free plan; if you’ve already made your free video, you can’t make another until you subscribe again. Drafts can’t use Pro features once Pro has ended.
- What’s included. Up to 10 videos a month, and up to 20 kept at once, with the features marked Pro. We may change the features from time to time; we won’t take away anything important you’re paying for without telling you first.
- Payments are handled by Stripe and its partners, under their own terms. We never see or keep your full card details.
- Your legal rights. As a consumer you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing. By starting your subscription (or your trial) you ask us to provide Pro straight away; if you cancel within those 14 days, we may keep a fair amount for the time you’ve used. This doesn’t affect your other legal rights.
Making videos
- You must run the business you make a video for, or have its permission. You must have the right to use your website’s content, your logo and any photos you use, and you let us use them to make your videos.
- We don’t make videos for: adult or sexual content, gambling or betting, weapons, illegal or recreational drugs, hate or extremism, political parties or campaigns, religious organisations, anything unsafe or illegal, or anything that isn’t a real business. Our checks are automatic and may sometimes get it wrong: if you think they have, email us and a person will look.
- Videos are made with AI. Their scripts are written and checked by AI, their pictures may be drawn by AI, their voice-over is an AI voice, and the captions we suggest for posting them are written by AI. Please watch every video, and read every caption, carefully before you use it. You’re responsible for checking it’s accurate for your business and for how you use it.
- Videos for health, finance and legal businesses end with a short “general information, not advice” line. Please don’t remove it.
- Please don’t use swearing, slurs, or sexual, hateful or violent words in anything you type, such as your script, topic or end card. We check what you type and may refuse it.
- Your end card shows only the details you add: a button, a web address or QR code, and any phone number, email address or social media handles. They must be your business’s own. A web address must be on your own website, or your page on a booking or shop service.
- Videos on free accounts carry a “Sample” watermark and our “Animation by” ending. Please don’t remove, cover or crop them.
- You may use your videos to promote your own business. You keep ownership of your logo and brand; we keep ownership of our characters, templates, music and styles.
- We keep finished videos for 7 days on a free account and 60 days on Pro, so please download yours before then. Unfinished videos are deleted 3 days after they were last changed.
- If you turn on a share link, anyone with the link can watch the video until you stop sharing or the video is deleted. With Pro, you can also show it on your own website with the embed code. You’re responsible for where you share it. Anyone can report a shared video to us. If several people report it, we pause its sharing while we look, and we may take it down if it breaks these terms.
- We may decline to make a video, or remove one, if it breaks these terms or the law.
Our videos are general information
The videos the app makes, and any videos on this website, are general information. They are not medical, financial, legal or other professional advice, and they don’t replace advice from a qualified professional about anyone’s own situation.
Prices
Prices on the website are in pounds sterling and include VAT. Pro is paid for through Stripe’s managed payments service, which charges VAT or other sales taxes where they apply and pays them over. We may change our prices; the price that applies is the one shown when you buy.
Our content
The website, the app and everything on them, including the videos, characters (such as Watt and Lumbo), logos, text and design, belong to us or the people who license them to us. You may view and share links to the website, but please don’t copy, reuse or adapt our content without asking us first, except for using your own videos as described above.
Links to other websites
We may link to other websites. We aren’t responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
The website, the app and free videos are provided free of charge and “as is”. We aren’t responsible for any loss that comes from relying on the website’s content or a video the app made.
For Pro, we’re responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or not using reasonable care. Because Pro is for businesses, we aren’t responsible for loss of profit, business, revenue, goodwill or data, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you’ve paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the problem.
Privacy
How we use your personal information is explained in our privacy notice.
Changes and the law that applies
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
